Blue Bonnets at a Nature Center
You don't ever imagine that one thoughtful act can spread...
But if the act involves blue bonnets and they are allowed to go to seed every year and then mowed down then they will spread! A friend of ours was very ill and in the hospital. We went on a road trip to the Antique Rose Emporium. Zachary and I found some blue bonnet plants for sale and we purchased 4 plants. We took them to the Rustic Oak Elementary School Nature Center and planted them. Every year the seed spread out a little bit more and with the right amount of rain ... the blue bonnets are putting on quite a show!

Rebuy - the way to make something used yours
Rebuying is my favorite way of enhancing and adding to my wardrobe. Here in Pearland several resale and consignment shops have popped up, offering women and at some spots men an opportunity to find some items new to them. Some to my favorites:
- Salvation Army Store at Broadway and Walnut
- Forgotten Angels at Broadway and Westminster
- Goodwill at Broadway and Walnut
- Restyle Pearland at Broadway and Wagon Trail
- Brooke's Boutique at Broadway and Cullen

Number Four
"I for one am grateful," a voice piped up from the back seat of the car. We were having one of the conversations about having more than 2 children and in this case talking about a friend who was pregnant with number four. At that time people were all too free with their comments. She had had it with the rounds of folks who found it all too easy to reprimand her for going over the acceptable limit of the number of children. Our discussion ended with Zachary's comment because of course he was right! Zachary as number four is grateful for being that number. I love all four of my children. They are all wonderful, independent and intelligent. So, at the end of this week when Zack and the rest of the Pearland High School Academic Decathlon Team compete for the state title I will be thinking of number 4 and how lucky we are to have him!

Blue Sky
Every year Leon Hale would write about finding spring. I still miss reading Leon's columns. They always brought a smile to my face and often made me laugh out loud!
Our first day over 75 degrees was yesterday. I am hoping that spring is in the air. I haven't seen my first robin and I don't think the mesquite trees are budding out. But I think I should drive about and see if I can find spring.

Working Out
Lately I have let the weather dictate my workout schedule. This week I am sticking to the schedule in my head. Not always easy when it is cold outside and the bed so warm and inviting! Tomorrow will be my test case. Cold and miserable is the forecast... after working out 3 days in a row it might be difficult getting out of bed!

A visit to an outlet mall
The weather was perfect, well a little cool but sunny and beautiful. What to do that is sort of outside but not outside? A trip to the outlet center seemed to be perfect. Enough walking time outside and able to duck indoors if you get chilled. Everything is on sale at the outlet center. Original prices seem to be high, but what do I know I can't even remember when I last stepped into a "normal" mall. I am a consignment and resale shop type gal, taking my chances on the finds of the day.
I keep my eye open and try very hard to not have any particular item in mind. It's difficult sometimes because you see something it isn't in your size and you think longingly that it would look good on you. When that happens I move on and put it out of my mind. Usually I am not disappointed, my eyes catch something else. I often find something brand new with the tags still on it. When you shop in this way prices at an outlet center with its enticing signs promising 25-75% off retail prices are still way high. I am used to paying no more than 10-25% of retail prices. By sticking to classic cuts and designs and colors that aren't too trendy I can get by with "outdated" clothing.
So, a little fresh air, people watching and unexpectedly running into a few friends were the highlights of the outlet center experience. AND I saved a lot of money...because it was still all in my pocket!
