Watching Invictus with the Boys

An activity for a rainy day...

We found something to do on this cool rainy day. The local "Redbox" has provided us with a very good movie "Invictus." Not the normal viewing fare of the boys, although they do like movies about team sports. I am enjoying the movie and the time with the boys. It would have been fun camping, but I think this is nice as well.

WM MRF

How is that for a brief title made up of acronyms? WM is the trademarked logo for Waste Management. A MRF is a material recovery facility. In layman's terms it is a facility that sorts through and recovers recyclables from a single stream collection. All the recycling put into your bin and set out for WM to collect is loaded into one "garbage" truck. That truck will drive to the MRF be weighed on a truck scale and then will dump it's load. I can't wait to see it operational. The separation is highly automated. With coolest newest technology in place if everyone will do their part and set out their recyclables we can divert a lot of material from landfills.

Thanksgiving 2010

Some photos were obviously not taken by me... we had a good Thanksgiving Dinner at my moms!

4 Watson Children

Black Friday 2010 started out grey and rainy. We ate breakfast. Waited for Salvation Army Store to open, went shopping and then returned to the Watson house and woke everyone up. After the sun came out we convinced everyone to go to the park. Once there we started up some charcoal... started a casserole, grilled some burgers and played hide and seek. Zachary is really good at hiding in the brush (or up in the trees). AND text messaging adds a new dimension to the game... he started sending out hot and cold clues. The only other folks in the park were runners, walkers and others doing some sort of exercise. A few other families were showing up with small children in tow as we were leaving.

On the Run

My mobile blog was supposed to be a convenient way to quickly post photos and other brief thoughts via my phone.  So far, it is a failure.  I am much more likely to post such things to Facebook.  I guess it was something I had to try.  My newest resolution is to carry my camera with me more often and take more photos, although if I use my phone as a camera I am more likely to push the photos out faster.

I am always more comfortable behind the camera.  It is a conversation starter, an ice breaker and a great way to fade away into the background when you want to!  I also like the feeling, the feeling that is hard to describe, the feeling I get when I know I have captured a moment... created something special with the visual aspect that I have captured.  Enough rambling from me, I am going to go veg.  I am at the tail end of this cough, cold thing that has had me in its grips since Wednesday evening.  I hope to sleep well tonight and start the week off strong with a run and crossfit workout.

Good Night!

Egg White, Spinach & Feta Wrap | Starbucks Coffee Company

Egg White, Spinach & Feta Wrap | Starbucks Coffee Company

So happy to have "my starbucks - http://assets.starbucks.com/store/17807 " finally get a warming oven. I love these wraps! And try having a pastry or cookie warmed for just a few minutes! Nothing is better than that just out of the oven flavor of a chocolate ship cookie (especially the double chocolate chip cookie)!

Zachary's Birthday, started with a buffet breakfast. Then this visit to Houston Museum Natural Science (HMNS). Our next stop was Starbucks, then Salvation Army Store and then home to do a quick clean up. Zachary has some young men spending the night. They have been swimming, eaten at Cici's Pizza and I am not sure what they are up to right now. As long as they are quiet and aren't getting into trouble we will get along fine!

HMNS "Corpse" Flower

The "corpse" flower, it hasn't opened up yet so we didn't get to experience the stench!

Mobile but not Mobile

Decided to post to my mobile blog, by using the conventional blogger interface.  Why?  Just because I want to.  No other reason, I just feel like being silly and writing something to get my mind off of other things.  In the end I am failing because this isn't witty or clever it is just words on the screen.  I failed altogether on both fronts, I didn't really distract myself and I didn't create anything worth saving.

A happy face for dinner

Ross is working today! Jon and Zack are going to Frys with us. What gizmo or gadget do we need?

View from Starbucks on Mother's Day

It is possible that I may have had one too many last night.  But a good Mother's Day breakfast at Kelleys followed by a venti Cafe Americano and I think I will survive this cloudy Sunday!  I am feeling more optimistic about Pearland Schools this morning.  I think that the composition of the school board has changed enough to create a team.  People who run for an elected position that requires much of their time with no monetary compensation have my respect.  We may disagree on issues from time to time, but that does not lessen my respect for your willingness to serve your community.  Good Luck to the newest Pearland ISD School Board Trustees!
